Secondary transitions in polymers

In DMA testing, Tan Delta is a particularly instructive key indicator. Variations in Tan Delta express changes in material state: glass transition, of course, but also polymerization, crystallization, melting and relaxation. Secondary transitions are correlated with the movement of a lateral group of atoms on a polymer chain or at the end of the chain. In addition, a temperature ramp test of a polyoxymethylene (POM) is a good example of DMA+’s ability to clearly reveal multiple transitions of very different amplitudes.
